Our service is managed by

The Skye & Lochalsh Community Care Forum SCIO  Management Committee

The SLCCF was established in 1991 and is a registered Charity.  This has a Management Committee of up to fifteen trustees including service users and carers; a minimum of five trustees is required for a quorum.

The SCCF supports service users and/or unpaid carers by providing information, advice, assistance and support.  It enables services users and carers to take part in the planning, developing and monitoring of community care provision. The SCCF can establish and manage projects or services which meet identified gaps in community care.

In 1999, in direct response to a young carer asking what support was available for young carers, and with no support structures identified, the SLCCF applied for and received a small research grant from the Princess Royal Trust for Carers.  As a direct result of this research the Skye & Lochalsh Young Carers service (S&LYC) was set up in 2000 to develop young carers support and enable them to come together to help combat the social isolation they may experience. The service offers regular support group meetings and respite breaks for both   primary and high school age young carers along with advocacy, training, one to one and  bereavement support as required.
