August 2019

Open Doors Cafe

Many thanks to everyone at Open Doors Cafe for their continued support and the very generous donation of £225. These funds will be used towards the respite trips organised for the young carers, which helps them gain new experiences and a break away from their roles as carers. All our respite trips are fully paid for by Skye and Lochalsh Young Carers so give every young carer the opportunity to participate. 

Monty 

Many thanks to Monty for your kind donation of £20. This money will go towards healthy food and snacks available to the young carers during our group sessions which helps them learn to make healthy choices and gives them more energy to participate in our activities and challenges. 

Paul Spence

A huge congratulations and thank you to Paul Spence for his very kind donation of £184.56 through his sponsored head shave. Paul managed to raise money for a number of charities and we are very greatful to have been one of them. Thank you!

Skye Highland Games

Many thanks to the committee at the Skye Highland Games for their generous donation of £100. We enjoy working in partnership with local groups and organisations and we are very thankful to have support from these for the young carers. A wonderful day was had by all and we look forward to doing it all again next year! 

 

July 2019

Skye Lark 

Many thanks to all those at Skye Lark for their generous donation of £28.12. This money will go towards snacks and healthy food choices for the young carers during their group sessions. 

Misty Isles Boat Trip

Huge thanks and congratulations to everyone who attended worked so hard at the Misty Isles Boat Trip. From all accounts it was a wonderful night enjoyed by all and raised an amazing £1651 for the young Carers! This money will go towards respite trips for the young carers which gives them the opportunity to have a break away from their responsibilities and enjoy activities and opportunities they might not be able to otherwise. A huge well done and thanks to all!

YouGov on behalf of Rhoda Grant MSP

Many thanks for the continued support from Rhoda Grant MSP and YouGov for the generous donation of £30. This donation will help go towards activities and challenges for the young carers during their group sessions, which help them build their social skills and help them learn and develop new skills.

Many thanks to Rhoda Grant MSP and ComRes for their very generous donation of £75. This donation will go towards buying snacks an drinks for the young carers during our summer respite trips. Many thanks for you continued generosity.

The Open Doors Café 

Many thanks to everyone at Open-Door Café Friends for their generous donation of £250. This donation will help go towards our Summer Respite trips which the young carers really look forward to. Many thanks for your continued kindness and generosity.

Helping Hands

We are very thankful to Allison and everyone at Helping Hands for their donation of £500 to buy much needed clothes for some of the young carers. This donation allowed us to help 3 young carers get some much needed school clothing as well as out of school clothing to help them fit in with their peers and build their confidence. We are very grateful for your wonderfully kind donation.

SPAR Balmacara staff & customers 

We would like to send our thanks to everyone at SPAR Balmacara for raising £266 for Skye and Lochalsh Young Carers through their raffle. This donation will be used to purchase more activity resources, such as craft materials, for the young carers group sessions. We are very grateful for your kind generosity. 

Soul Train Group 

We would like to send our heartfelt thanks for everyone at the Soul Train Group for their kind donation of £260 raised by the groups fundraising activities. This donation will go towards activities for the young carers workshops. These workshops help build the young carers confidence as well as support their social skill development. We are very grateful for all your efforts, thank you! 

March 2019

Jewson Ltd Portree
A big thank you to the staff at Jewson's for kindly donating materials to us for making drawing boards. The drawing boards will be used during weekly group sessions where the young carers really enjoy doing Art's and Crafts activities.

Church of Scotland Ladies Bible Study
Many thanks to the Ladies Bible Study group for there much appreciated donation of £50. This money will help to buy tasty snacks and juice for the young carers while travelling longer distances to their away respite trips which will include a trip to Landmark Forest Adventure Park or Shopping and Go-karting in Inverness. 

John Casson Foundation
A huge thank you goes to The John Casson Foundation for awarding us £1,500 to cover the cost of six young carer's much needed local residential respite break. We are currently working on the activity programmes that the young carers will be participating in during the respite break which will build on the activities that they have been working on in weekly group sessions. Thank you so much for your kindness and support.

Ian Williams
Huge thanks to Ian for his much appreciated donation of £100 from his Fundraiser at Skeabost Hall. This money will go towards the Young Carer's Easter respite programme to make sure all young carers can get a regular break from caring responsibilities and have fun with their supportive young carer friends.  

Portree High School
Many thanks to the pupils, parents and staff at Portree High School for there generous donation of £303.66 raised from there recent Dress Down Day. This money will help us to cover the costs of our local respite activity programme during the Easter break - a trip to Whitewave Outdoor Centre and Kyle Swimming pool are in the planning!

Laura Shirley & All residents of Harlosh Community
Our sincere thanks to Laura and all the residents of Harlosh community for their generous donations of food, treats, toiletries and hygiene products. We were able to fill our food bank shelves at Young Carers and deliver 16 very large food hampers to some Young Carers families that were in need this Christmas.

Marion MacGregor & All the Pupils, Parents and Staff at Dunvegan Primary School
Huge thanks to all at Dunvegan Primary School for their generous donations of food, treats, toiletries and hygiene products. We were able to fill our food bank shelves at Young Carers and deliver 16 very large food hampers to some Young Carers families that were in need this Christmas.

Magda Healey
Our sincere thanks to Magda Healey for the generous and thoughtful donation of £70 received in memoriam of Alex Healey. The donation will be used to help purchase more activity resource materials ao that we can deliver high quality Young Carer workshops. 

All the Pupils, Parents and Staff at Portree Primary School
Huge thanks to all at Portree Primary School for their much appreciated donation of £230 which was raised from their Christmas service and Christmas concert hamper raffle. The donation will help purchase more activity resource materials that can be used during group sessions, such as craft materials, for the 69 young carers that we currently support. 

Open Door Café
Many thanks to the Open Door Café for their continued support and for their latest donation of £100. This money will be used to help purchase healthy snacks of fruit and vegetables along with fruit juices for the young carers to enjoy during group sessions.

The Vallely Family
Huge thanks to the Vallely Family for their greatly appreciated donation of £100. This donation will be used towards the Christmas respite parties for the 68 young carers that we currently support. It means so much that people in the community show such generous and thoughtful support, particularly at this time of year.

Great Wilderness Challenge
Our sincere thanks to Great wilderness Challenge for their incredible support. The amazing total of £41000 received will provide us with the funds needed to deliver our programme of activities throughout the year without any costs to the young carers or their families. We are so thankful to the GWC for enabling us to take part in such a well organised event each year to help so many vulnerable children and their families. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by our team and we do indeed plan to take part again next year.

The young carers really enjoy the parties and having a choice of snacks as well as sitting and eating together helps them to relax while also supporting their social skills development.

Thanks to Gill for her generous and loyal support and the greatly appreciation donation of £29.50 from the Waternish Craft Fair. The donation will be used towards the Christmas respite party.

Jean Saville
Many thanks to Jean for her much appreciated donation of £70.50 raised through a pub quiz. This donation will be used towards the Christmas respite party food buffet. The young carers really enjoy the parties and having a choice of snacks as well as sitting and eating together helps them to relax while also supporting their social skills development.

The Royal Caledonian Charities Trust
Our sincere thanks to The Royal Caledonian Charities Trust for their generous donation of £3000. This funding helped towards our annual residential break to Edinburgh. 12 young carers attended the trip and enjoyed it immensely. The trip gave the young carers a chance to spend precious time with like-minded friends, as well as opportunities to try new things and create really positive memories to help them during their more difficult and challenging times. The young carers took part in lots of exciting activities including cinema, shopping, virtual reality arcade, Royal Britannia Yacht, Bowling, Camera Obscura, Edinburgh Zoo, ghost bus, ghost walk, ice skating and Edinburgh dungeons.

Patricia Phillips
Thank you to Patricia for the much appreciated donation of £108 from the table top sale. This donation will be used towards the Christmas respite party. The party is a great chance for the young carers to relax and have some time out from their caring roles during the festive period.

Marianne Mackinnon
Many thanks to Marianne for the greatly appreciated donation of £75. It means so much to young carers to know that people in the community show such generous and thoughtful support, particularly at this time of year which is more stressful and worrying for many of them.

Thank you to Stephen and Donald for their much appreciated donation of £100. This donation will be used towards the Christmas respite parties for the 68 young carers that we currently support.

Anne Wilson
Thank you to Anne for the much appreciated donation of £50. This donation will be used towards the combined local respite trip and Christmas party to help young carers build resilience and raise their self esteem as this can be a particularly difficult time for some of them and their families during the festive season.

Thank you to Steve for another very generous donation of £172. This funding will be used to support the Young Carers annual respite programme. These trips give the young carers something to look forward to and a chance to spend precious time with like-minded friends, as well as opportunities to try new things and create really positive memories to help them during their more difficult and challenging times.

PA Advocacy on behalf of Rhoda Grant MSP
Many thanks to Rhoda for the very much appreciated donation of £100. This donation will help toward the cost of the annual residential weekend to Edinburgh. This trip is for a maximum of 12 young carers who have positively demonstrated the Young Carers values of Safety, Support, Respect and Confidentiality over the last year.

Sir John & Maureen McGinn
Our most sincere thanks to John & Maureen for their kind donation of £200 for the young carers on the Edinburgh respite trip. This donation will enable them to buy hot drinks and some delicious lunch. The young carers are all so excited about the trip and will really enjoy a nice hot drink on a cold december day. Its great to see the difference in the young carers having a break from their caring roles and having so much fun. 

Ipsos MORI Scotland on behalf of Rhoda Grant MSP
Thank you to Rhoda for another generous donation of £150. This funding will be used towards some of the activities on the Edinburgh respite trip. The young carers are able to select the activities that they would like to do and this year they include cinema, shopping, virtual reality arcade, Royal Britannia Yacht, Bowling, Camera Obscura, Edinburgh Zoo, ghost bus, ghost walk, ice skating and Edinburgh dungeons.

Effie Campbell and The Network Tuesday Group
Our most sincere thanks to Effie and The Network Tuesday Group for their generous donation of £135. This donation will help toward the cost of the food for the 12 young carers on the annual residential weekend to Edinburgh. The young carers are given the opportunity to mix with their peers in a safe setting putting into practice the valuable life and social skills they have developed during their regular weekly sessions.
