January 2019

Laura Shirley & All residents of Harlosh Community
Our sincere thanks to Laura and all the residents of Harlosh community for their generous donations of food, treats, toiletries and hygiene products. We were able to fill our food bank shelves at Young Carers and deliver 16 very large food hampers to some Young Carers families that were in need this Christmas.

Marion MacGregor & All the Pupils, Parents and Staff at Dunvegan Primary School
Huge thanks to all at Dunvegan Primary School for their generous donations of food, treats, toiletries and hygiene products. We were able to fill our food bank shelves at Young Carers and deliver 16 very large food hampers to some Young Carers families that were in need this Christmas.

Magda Healey
Our sincere thanks to Magda Healey for the generous and thoughtful donation of £70 received in memoriam of Alex Healey. The donation will be used to help purchase more activity resource materials ao that we can deliver high quality Young Carer workshops. 

All the Pupils, Parents and Staff at Portree Primary School
Huge thanks to all at Portree Primary School for their much appreciated donation of £230 which was raised from their Christmas service and Christmas concert hamper raffle. The donation will help purchase more activity resource materials that can be used during group sessions, such as craft materials, for the 69 young carers that we currently support. 

Open Door Café
Many thanks to the Open Door Café for their continued support and for their latest donation of £100. This money will be used to help purchase healthy snacks of fruit and vegetables along with fruit juices for the young carers to enjoy during group sessions.

December 2018

The Vallely Family
Huge thanks to the Vallely Family for their greatly appreciated donation of £100. This donation will be used towards the Christmas respite parties for the 68 young carers that we currently support. It means so much that people in the community show such generous and thoughtful support, particularly at this time of year.

Great Wilderness Challenge
Our sincere thanks to Great wilderness Challenge for their incredible support. The amazing total of £41000 received will provide us with the funds needed to deliver our programme of activities throughout the year without any costs to the young carers or their families. We are so thankful to the GWC for enabling us to take part in such a well organised event each year to help so many vulnerable children and their families. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by our team and we do indeed plan to take part again next year.

Open Door Café
Many thanks again to Open Door Café for their latest much appreciated donation of £200. This donation will be used towards the Christmas respite party food buffet. The young carers really enjoy the parties and having a choice of snacks as well as sitting and eating together helps them to relax while also supporting their social skills development.

Gill Adams
Thanks to Gill for her generous and loyal support and the greatly appreciation donation of £29.50 from the Waternish Craft Fair. The donation will be used towards the Christmas respite party.

Jean Saville
Many thanks to Jean for her much appreciated donation of £70.50 raised through a pub quiz. This donation will be used towards the Christmas respite party food buffet. The young carers really enjoy the parties and having a choice of snacks as well as sitting and eating together helps them to relax while also supporting their social skills development.

The Royal Caledonian Charities Trust
Our sincere thanks to The Royal Caledonian Charities Trust for their generous donation of £3000. This funding helped towards our annual residential break to Edinburgh. 12 young carers attended the trip and enjoyed it immensely. The trip gave the young carers a chance to spend precious time with like-minded friends, as well as opportunities to try new things and create really positive memories to help them during their more difficult and challenging times. The young carers took part in lots of exciting activities including cinema, shopping, virtual reality arcade, Royal Britannia Yacht, Bowling, Camera Obscura, Edinburgh Zoo, ghost bus, ghost walk, ice skating and Edinburgh dungeons.

Patricia Phillips
Thank you to Patricia for the much appreciated donation of £108 from the table top sale. This donation will be used towards the Christmas respite party. The party is a great chance for the young carers to relax and have some time out from their caring roles during the festive period.

Marianne Mackinnon
Many thanks to Marianne for the greatly appreciated donation of £75. It means so much to young carers to know that people in the community show such generous and thoughtful support, particularly at this time of year which is more stressful and worrying for many of them.

Thank you to Stephen and Donald for their much appreciated donation of £100. This donation will be used towards the Christmas respite parties for the 68 young carers that we currently support.

Anne Wilson
Thank you to Anne for the much appreciated donation of £50. This donation will be used towards the combined local respite trip and Christmas party to help young carers build resilience and raise their self esteem as this can be a particularly difficult time for some of them and their families during the festive season.

November 2018

Dr Steve McCabe
Thank you to Steve for another very generous donation of £172. This funding will be used to support the Young Carers annual respite programme. These trips give the young carers something to look forward to and a chance to spend precious time with like-minded friends, as well as opportunities to try new things and create really positive memories to help them during their more difficult and challenging times.

PA Advocacy on behalf of Rhoda Grant MSP
Many thanks to Rhoda for the very much appreciated donation of £100. This donation will help toward the cost of the annual residential weekend to Edinburgh. This trip is for a maximum of 12 young carers who have positively demonstrated the Young Carers values of Safety, Support, Respect and Confidentiality over the last year.

Sir John & Maureen McGinn
Our most sincere thanks to John & Maureen for their kind donation of £200 for the young carers on the Edinburgh respite trip. This donation will enable them to buy hot drinks and some delicious lunch. The young carers are all so excited about the trip and will really enjoy a nice hot drink on a cold december day. Its great to see the difference in the young carers having a break from their caring roles and having so much fun. 

Ipsos MORI Scotland on behalf of Rhoda Grant MSP
Thank you to Rhoda for another generous donation of £150. This funding will be used towards some of the activities on the Edinburgh respite trip. Effie Campbell and The Network Tuesday Group
Our most sincere thanks to Effie and The Network Tuesday Group for their generous donation of £135. This donation will help toward the cost of the food for the 12 young carers on the annual residential weekend to Edinburgh. The young carers are given the opportunity to mix with their peers in a safe setting putting into practice the valuable life and social skills they have developed during their regular weekly sessions.

Many thanks indeed to Steve for his very much appreciated donation of £105 which was raised through sale of his childhood collection of postcards for the benefit of young carers. This funding will be used to support the annual respite programme which provides so much fun whilst also supporting life skills development.

Portree Parish Church of Scotland
Our most sincere thanks and appreciation go to the congregation of the Portree Parish Church of Scotland for their very generous donation of £883.90 collected during their Harvest Thanksgiving Service. These funds will be used to support our annual respite programme which helps to build resilience and create positive memories to tap into during more difficult times.

Open Door Café
Thank you so much to all at Open Door Café for their continued wonderful support. Their very much appreciated donation of £325 will be used to support the Young Carers annual Edinburgh residential respite programme. We ensure no young carer misses out on a respite break due to geography or lack of transport, we arrange to pick them up and return them back home and cover all costs involved.

Maureen Maclean
Thank you to Maureen for the thoughtful and practical generous donation of clothes. We are currently supporting 68 young carers throughout Skye and Lochalsh by providing 2 hour weekly support sessions and regular respite breaks. The clothes donations are always very much appreciated by the young carers.

Misty Isle Curry Cruise
Thank you for the additional donations of £20 and £10 which will be used to support the young carers hobbies and interests including musical instruments.  

Inner Wheel Club of the Isle of Skye
Our sincere thanks to the Inner Wheel Club who donated £100 toward the Great Wilderness Challenge sponsorship fund which will be used to support the Young Carers' annual respite programme.

Personal Donations
Many thanks to some of our loyal supporters who have donated £45 to fund the young carers hobbies and interests including art materials and sports equipment.

Church of Scotland Parish of Strath & Sleat
Our most sincere thanks goes to the congregation of the Skye and Lochalsh Churches joint service who have donated a total of £275.71.  This money will be used to support Young Carer respite outings which have such a positive benefit for all participating.  They have valuable breaks to look forward to, some time out from responsibilities and worries at home and opportunities to try new things and develop skills while creating very positive memories to hold onto during harder times.

Thank you so much to everyone involved in the Uig Gala for their loyal support and very much appreciated donation of £200.00.  This money will be used to support our vital annual respite programme where young carers have a chance to spend precious time with like minded friends and having new experiences and memories to hold onto.

South Skye Practice Patient Participation Group
Thank you so much for the very generous sum of £1,000 donated from the South Skye Practice Patient Participation Group funds.  This very much appreciated donation will be used to purchase healthy foods and new activity materials for the 60 plus young carers we are presently supporting in our community. We are very grateful for this thoughtful and generous support of Young Carers.

St Columba's Scottish Episcopal Church, Diocese of Argyll and the Isles, Portree
Our sincere thanks goes to the Bread Basket volunteers and lunch club guests who donated a total of £51.00 to Young Carers.  This much appreciated donation will be used to help purchase healthy snacks for the 5 group sessions we run each week.

Stall at Agricultural Show
Many thanks indeed to our volunteers and everyone who visited and supported the stall.  A grand total of £277.56 was raised; this money will support young carers' transport costs, we make sure no young carer misses out on support due to the need for transport.

Open Door Coffee
Our sincere thanks goes to all our friends and supporters at the Open Door Café for latest much appreciated donation of £150.00.  This money will be used to support our additional respite transport costs, we ensure young carers can take part in the respite activities by providing all necessary transport to pick them up and return them home.

Huge thanks to Steve for his latest very generous donation of £248.00 which was raised through sale of his childhood collection of postcards at the Portree Market.  The money will be used to support individual young carer talents, skills and interests to help them maximise their potential.

Skeabost Hall Market
Many thanks indeed to Ian Williams and everyone who supported the Young Carers' Service at Skeabost Hall Market recently.  The much appreciated £279.55 total will be used to support the Young Carers' annual respite programme which gives much needed opportunities to have a break and have fun.

Skye Highland Games Committee & Willie Gordon
Our most sincere thanks go to the committee for working in partnership with us again this year.  The £50.00 donation from Willie Gordon for tartan hire along with the grand total of £900.00 received from the committee and parking donations will be used to support the young carers' transport costs to and from group sessions and respite activities.  Without transport provision young carers from more isolated areas of Skye and Lochalsh would really struggle to access much needed support.

Sleat Whist
Thank you so much to everyone from the Sleat Whist group who donated a very much appreciated £192.00 to the Young Carers' Service.  This money will be used to support the Young Carers' invaluable respite activities which give them much needed breaks to look forward to and skill development opportunities to capitalise on.

Personal Donations
Many thanks indeed for the personal donations totalling £160 which will be used to support young carers' skills and interests.

Ardvasar Charity Café
A massive thank you to everyone involved in setting up and supporting the Ardvasar Charity Café, an amazing total of £1260.18 was raised on the day!  This money will be used to support the Young Carers' respite break activities so they they can put aside worry and responsibility for a short time.  They will have some much needed fun together and opportunities to make positive memories to help support them during more difficult times.

The Robert MacDonald Memorial Trust
Our sincere thanks goes to the Trustees for the thoughtful and very much appreciated donation of £111.05 received from the closing of the account. This money in memory of Robert MacDonald will be used to support young carers' sports, talents and interests.

Misty Isle Boat Trips - Cruise and Curry night
A massive thank you to our dream machine cooks Donald and Ann, the fabulously talented musicians Sandy, Roxy, Rachel & Calum and the amazingly loyal and supportive Shea, Anne, James and crew who all made the night such a memorable one. We even managed a walk ashore to the beautiful Loch Coruisk! Thank you so much to everyone who joined us on the trip, your support and incredible generosity has raised a brilliant total of £935.00 for Young Carers.

Open Door Café, Kyle
A very big thank you to all our friends and supporters for the latest generous donation of £200.00.  This money will be used to support the young carers' summer respite programme which is so important as it allows them to put aside worries and have some fun time with their peers.

Portree Co-op
Our sincere thanks to the Co-op and everyone who donated or purchased books from the stall.  You have raised a very much appreciated £119.26 which will be used to provide drinks and snacks for young carers during their summer programme activities.

Skye Bible Church
Many thanks indeed to the Coffee Pot Group members and customers for raising a total of £125.00 for young carers.  With agreement, this money will provide sponsorship for our volunteer Great Wilderness Challenge team next month so that the donation is maximised for the benefit of the young carers.  The final funds will then be used to help us deliver the life skills activities young carers benefit so much from.

Our most sincere thanks and appreciation go to our 2 hardy Glasgow Kiltwalkers who raised an impressive total of £745.00.  This was topped up by the Kiltwalk so we received a grand total of £1,043.00!  This money will be used to help us deliver our planned programme of activities throughout the year without cost barriers to the young people and their families.

Sincere thanks to our loyal friends and supporters at the Open Door Café for the latest £175.00 donation which will be used to support the planned summer respite trips for young carers.  They are busy making their choices at the moment and options will include local trips and away days as far away as Aviemore this year!

Go Cocoa
Huge thank you to Kenna and helper Irene for running a complementary chocolate workshop for young carers and for donating £25.00 from proceeds raised from the Chocolate Tots workshops based at Victoria Cottage on the 16th of June.  The results were enjoyed by everyone!

Skylark
Many thanks indeed for the generous donation total of £36.94 received from the counter collection tin.  The money will be used to provide much needed travel snacks while on our respite away trips over the summer holiday period.

Thank you so much to all the staff and customers who supported us by raised a grand total of £313.16 from the Co-op second hand book stall.  This money will be used to support our annual respite break programme, we will purchase much needed breakfast and refreshment snacks for those travelling longer distances and will help pay for some of our activity costs.

Massive thank you to Gill Adams who held her 60th birthday celebrations in support of Young Carers!  She and her well wishers raised an extremely generous total of £1,100.  This money will be used to support our up and coming summer respite programme which makes such a difference to the young carers we support.

April 2018

Jansvans
A very big thank you indeed to Jansvans customers and staff for raising a wonderful total of £98.63 from our counter collection tins!  The money will be used to support the young carers planned respite breaks.  This Easter some are going swimming and having lunch at Hector's Bothy in Kyle, others are going fishing, attending an art workshop or heading to Landmark for a much needed break.

XCEL Church
Many thanks indeed to everyone at the XCEL Church for the very generous donation of Easter Eggs for young carers and our support volunteers.  The eggs have been very much enjoyed and appreciated.

Donation of Clothing and Toys
Our most grateful thanks goes to our local family who donated 'as good as new' clothing and toys for young carers and their families.  Young carer families who are awaiting the arrival of a baby will benefit from the baby clothing and equipment and primary school age young carers will spend many happy hours playing with the high quality toys you have provided. The remaining pre-school toys have been donated to another local children's charity - Portree Nursery, they too were delighted and appreciative of the gifts they received.

Sincere thanks to all our friends and supporters at the Open Door Café for your latest donation of £200.00.  This money will be used to support the young carers' respite breaks.  Over Easter time 46 young carers benefited from a respite break organised by the Young Carer service, 27 went to Landmark for the day while others had lunch and went swimming in Kyle or went fishing or had lunch and attended an art workshop at Aros.

Our thanks goes to the Fingal Centre customers and staff for collecting the sum of £28.39 in our counter collection tin.  This money will be used to buy much needed snacks and juice for the young carers while traveling longer distances to activities.

Many thanks indeed to our friends and supporters at the Open Door Café for the latest much appreciated donation of £175.00.  This money will be used to purchase some of our weekly snacks along with cooking and baking resources to give the young carer more opportunities to develop their creative and life skills in the kitchen.

Many thanks for your very much appreciated donation of £63.33 which was raised through a recent raffle.  This money will help us with our planned Spring respite breaks, we plan to have some local trips as well as an away day to Landmark in line with the wishes and ability levels of the young carers.

Personal Donation
Our most sincere thanks goes to the family who donated a very thoughtful and generous donation of £675.00 to Young Carers in memory of a loved one.  This money will be used to support our planned summer respite activity programme which will include local and away days throughout the summer holiday period and it addition we will be purchasing more healthy snacks for our young carer members.
